Good Luck. Break the Sword and Turn It into Flowers. Happiness is Close at Hand. What do these three books have in common? Not only are they books that help lift your spirits, they have also been turned into audio books for the visually impaired.
They are among 35 titles that have brought blind children much joy, thanks to Amway for Thai Society Foundation and nine publishing houses. In its 7th year, the audio book project entitled "One by One: One Voice Brightens the World" features interesting titles that are read by celebrities and volunteers. This year's theme, Living With Joy, offers spirits-lifting books from nine publishing houses: DMG Books, Amarin Printing and Publishing, Sataporn Books, Bee Media Group, Saengdao Publishing, Think Beyond Books, Busy-Day Publishing, Books2U and Success Media.
The Amway Foundation plans to produce 10,500 CDs in Daisy (Digital Accessible Information System) format, said Kittawat Ritteerawee, general manager of Amway (Thailand) and director of Amway for Thai Society Foundation.
From 2004 to 2009, the "One by One: One Voice Brightens the World" project produced 172,800 cassette tapes and Daisy CDs of 194 titles, which are distributed free of charge to visually-impaired children and youths nationwide via 150 agencies and organisations.
